Pieces back in place with stuff on them again. Note the 2x4 holding up the spice rack isn't visible.

All new wood is in that is going to be in the short term, and it's all been finished. Not much left to do. (Just as a reminder, that 2x4 bolted to the wall is what the spice rack sits on. I'm hoping to make it prettier while reinstalling the spice rack some time this week.)

Everything is painted, but none of the new wood is finished at all. A couple bits of the new wood aren't there yet (next to the stove you can see the power feed for the stove, that is supposed to be enclosed.)

New counter. Yep, ugly install, but it's not dressed yet. The legs are the right width for a dishwasher to fit between.

There is no wallpaper left, nor is there any of the nasty paneling. All walls have been cleaned up to be patched.

State of the demolition on May 19th

Amanda's start on removing the wallpaper. As can be easily seen, it was installed incorrectly - you're supposed to prime the sheetrock before sticking the wallpaper to it.

The sequence of removing the hideous-ness that was the kitchen "table". It's been there longer than the current floor, as can be easily told from the tile square that was under it.

The new spice rack on the wall, with contents! The bolts underneath are holding a 2x4 to the wall that I'm planning on boxing in with more oak, but that's lower on the priority list. You can also tell where the studs are in the wall, since the bolts and the little brackets at the top are both way off-center.

OK, this is in the living room, but the spice rack will be up in the kitchen. It's 4 feet tall, almost 3 feet wide, and has 5 shelves for shorter, squat bottles, and 4 shelves for taller, "McCormick"-style spice bottles.

I put up a small set of book shelves for cookbooks and stuff

Pieces of new plumbing sitting around the radiators that are waiting to be reattached. The end with the threads and union attaches to the radiator, the other end drops below the floor. Both of these will involve new holes being drilled through the floor.

A shot of the scaffolding set up over the kitchen table so I can replace the crappy fluorescent fixture.

A couple shots of removing the fittings from the tops of the old cast iron pipes that were feeding the kitchen's larger radiator. That's an 18" pipe wrench, with a 4' piece of 1.5" schedule 40 iron pipe on it. I've named the pipe "Encouragement" because many of the fittings are perfectly willing to come loose with a little Encouragement. The last shot is after the pipes are gone and I've popped one of the wooden pads out that used to be under the radiator. I unconvered a second layer of nasty old linoleum tile of a different color under the grey I'm used to. *sigh*

A shot of the little radiator before I rip it out, take it outside to clean it off, and repaint it.

Before, during, and after the replacement of the kitchen faucet.

The old fridge.

Yay, new fridge.
